Backyard Paver Patio by Uptown

This was a backyard patio that was built for a couple enjoying retirement.

Initially there was a lot of dirt, grass, and a leftover stump that needed to be removed. The stump proved to be quite the challenge and was almost too big to be dislodged with the available machinery. After the dirt and stump was cleared out, gravel was brought in to build a stable base for the new patio.

Working with the owner we decided upon a 2 foot bed along two of the sides of the patio, which proved to be a great design choice. We worked out which brick pattern, Ashlar, what color, shadow and charcoal, and which brick types, the classic standard. The owners were very concerned about drainage and the patio was built so that it sloped away from the house towards the fence in the picture.

After everything was finished, 4 yards of garden soil was brought in to fill in the perimeters as well as remediate the landscape that had been chewed up by the heavy machinery going back and forth. During this time multiple neighbors came by to compliment the new patio. The owners also seemed pleased.
